How To Make Your Own Optical Illusion
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Ticonderoga. All opinions are 100% mine.
My kids are all about optical illusions right now. And why wouldn't they be?! They are so cool! While they are fun to look at, I thought it would also be neat to try to create some of our own.
We had the opportunity to partner with Ticonderoga to share some information with you and also to try out some of their pencils, so I thought this art exploration would be the perfect opportunity. We know Ticonderoga pencils very well, as I bet you do as well! With a 100 year history this is definitely one quality product. It is so simple and functional, absolutely perfect for letting my little ones express themselves. School supplies we stock up on each Fall.
My daughter loves art and has done some really neat art projects over the year. I remember her doing a few optical illusions and she was happy to help us try some over this past week.
The first one we did looks SO COOL – like there is truly a hole in the page! And, it was just as simple as could be. Madeline did the outlines in pencil and then the boys shaded in the spots she told them too. The entire project was done only with a pencil.
It wasn't long before the optical illusion took shape. We found a neat YouTube tutorial for this optical illusion as well. You can watch it right here. It has a nice and easy step by step tutorial.
The second optical illusion we created was such a simple one. This one was ideal for my boys to do all on their own. We began by tracing one hand on a sheet of white paper.
Next, we used a ruler (which isn't even necessary, you can just draw straight-ish lines) and drew lines across the paper, leaving the hand print blank. After, we drew curved lines in the hand attaching one side of the straight line to the other.
Once the hand was entirely finished it popped right out of the page! It was so neat to see. The kids then coloured the handprint which made the illusion stand out that much more.
Pretty neat – right? The kids loved making these optical illusions and I was so impressed by how simple they really were to create.
Today is the perfect day to get a little creative, don't you think?
Thank you so much for reading friends. I hope you are having a wonderful day.
